The 1st mobility to Belgium
The Erasmus+ Project Environmental pollution research at school officially started in 01 2022 in Lublana, Slovenia. In February we were the hosts of a Spanish group and 2 Belgian groups of students and teachers. Whereas between 8-12 March 2 teachers and 6 of our students went for the 1st mobility to Maldegem in Belgium.
The project’s aim is to work in the field of ecology – to measure and analyse pollution of water, air and soil and to create a toolkit, which can be used by other groups of students and teachers at schools. In order to do that our students participated in workshops at the University in Ghent and were introduced to the topic of environmental issues at schools in Maldegem and Bredene. However, apart from the pedagogical activities the project allowed them to learn about the culture, history and traditions of Belgium. They were lucky to visit one of the most beautiful Belgian cities – Bruges, which is the UNESCO World Heritage Site. They also took part in an ecological project – cleaning up the beach in Ostend. The project was set up by a non-profit organisation from Ostend. Thanks to their motivation and determination the Belgian coast is cleaned by 7 volunteers every day. During these 4 days we the teachers and the students had the opportunity to try traditional Belgian dishes and snacks. We agree that Belgian chocolate and chocolates are the best in the world! We also learnt a bit about nature during the bike trip to the Netherlands, where we had a cup of coffee in one of the oldest pubs. Belgium seems a very calm and peaceful country to live with welcoming people. We all enjoyed our first mobility and we’d love to go there again.
